Competitive Edge: Will the NBA and NHL Give Us Game 7's?

3 Games, 3 Teams Looking to Stay Alive

Oh, baby.

Is there anything better than do-or-die playoffs? The Milwaukee Bucks need a win in Indiana to force a game 7, the 76ers are back at home in need of a win to force a game 7 at Madison Square Garden, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are back on home ice needing a win to force another game 7 in Boston. We’ll have trends for all three games, plus our MLB trend of the day, but first…

Milwaukee Bucks vs Indiana Pacers

The Bucks might get Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo back for game 6, but either way, we have to highlight this under.

Bobby Portis Under 36.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists

Portis went over this line last game without Dame and Giannis, but just barely, amassing 40 points, rebounds, and assists. On the season without them, he’s been under this in 2/3, and on the season as a whole, he’s been under this line in 80 of 87 games.

Ben Sheppard Over 6.5 Points+Rebounds

Sheppard has shaved out a role off the bench for the Pacers, averaging 17 minutes in the first 5 games of the series. He’s gone over this line in each game so far, so we’re highlighting the hot hand, hitting at 100%.

New York Knicks vs Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid said after game 2, when Philadelphia was down 2-0, that they were going to win the series.

They need a win tonight to force a game 7 and have a shot at fulfilling that statement.

Kyle Lowry Over 10.5 Points+Assists

There may not be a player Nick Nurse trusts more than Kyle Lowry, and since coming over to the 76ers after his buyout from the Hornets, Lowry has carved out a decent roll with Philly. In the playoffs, he’s averaged 32.5 minutes, and he’s gone over this points and assists line in 4 of the 5 games in this series.

Jalen Brunson Over 40.5 Points+Assists

Brunson has been dynamite in games three, four, and five after looking like a shell of himself in the first two games of the series. Brunson has that killer instinct, and tonight the Knicks can kill the 76ers season. He’s been over this line in 3 straight, let’s hope he makes it 4.

Cleveland Guardians vs Houston Astros

Astros Starting Pitcher Spencer Arrighetti

Houston Astros starter Spencer Arrighetti is three starts into his MLB career, and it’s been an ugly start. He’s averaged 6 hits allowed and comes into tonight’s game with a 10.97 ERA. There hasn’t been a silver lining for Arrighetti either, with both righties and lefties torching him.

And in the first inning, the entire pitching staff has struggled.

Guardians Lead Off Hitter Steven Kwan

There may not be a bat in baseball hotter than Steven Kwan.

He has 17 total bases in his last 5 games, including 10 in his last 2. Kwan is mashing righties, hitting .344 with 2 doubles and 2 triples, plus 2 home runs.

The Trend: Steven Kwan Over 1.5 Total Bases

An ice-cold pitcher meets a hot hitter, we’re looking for Kwan to stay hot tonight.

Boston Bruins vs Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs and Bruins playoff rivalry is in full swing once again, and Toronto needs a win to force a game 7 back in Boston…can they do it?

William Nylander Over 3.5 Shots on Goal

Auston Matthews is OUT!

Back-to-back games without the Leafs’ best player, but they won without him once. William Nylander didn’t score, but he stepped up his offense with 5 shots on goal. If they win, they’ll need another similar effort from him tonight.

Nylander has been over this line in 7 of his last 10 games without Matthews, including both games this season.

Pavel Zacha Over 1.5 Shots on Goal

Zacha went over this line in the first four games of the series before being shut off by the Leafs’ strong defensive effort in game 5. But we’re highlighting the hot shooter in the series, 4/5 just can’t be ignored.
