A Must Win for the Edmonton Oilers

Oilers Hope to Avoid Mavericks Fate

The Dallas Mavericks are down 0-3, a fate the Edmonton Oilers hope to avoid tonight. Below are several trends for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, a big MLB slate, and a couple of looks for Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday night. But first…

The Oilers are back at home down 0-2, and the matchup game swings back in their favor with the last change. Can they avoid the 0-3 hole?

Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Points

McDavid in the playoffs at home is a different beast than McDavid on the road in the playoffs.

McDavid at Home

McDavid on the Road

Yes, Florida has been smothering Edmonton’s offense, but Kris Knoblauch will have the chance to get McDavid time away from Florida’s best defense.

Stuart Skinner Under 25.5 Saves

Skinner has been under this number in both games of this series, and with Edmonton needing a win, I imagine Skinner won’t have a busy night, and this under could keep riding. He’s also been under in 8 of his last 10 home games.

Zach Hyman Over 0.5 Goals

Like Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman has been much more effective on home ice in the playoffs than on the road. He has goals in 7 of his last 10 home games and just 3 of his last 10 road games.

As you can tell, we’re banking for a big Oilers game 3.

No team has ever come back from a 0-3 hole in the NBA playoffs, and it seems unlikely that the Mavs will be the first to do it. But can they avoid the sweep?

Derrick Jones Jr. Over 4.5 Rebounds and Assists

Derrick Jones Jr. didn’t come through for us on Tuesday, but he’s been so consistent on this line that we had to highlight him here. He’s been over this line in 9 straight games and 17 of his last 2 games.

Jrue Holiday Over 23.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists

Holiday had been fantastic against this line before game 3, going over in 8 of his last 9 games. Ahead of game 4 on Friday, with the NBA Championship on the line, we like Holiday to get back on the over after missing this by 6 in game three.

There is no hotter bat in baseball than Teoscar Hernandez.

Teoscar Hernandez Over 1.5 Total Bases

Hernandez has been on fire, with 28 total bases over his last 7 games.

And today he gets a great matchup against Michael Lorenzen. Right-handed batters have hit .318 against Lorenzen this season, and he’s given up 12 hits in his last two starts.

Corbin Carroll Over 1.5 Total Bases

Carroll has had an awful second-year campaign, but he’s finally found a little stride lately. He’s hitting .417 over his last 7 days, with 10 hits in 24 at-bats.

Tuesday Recap

There’s a first for everything: we went 0-7 on Tuesday. Brutal, but we’ll bounce back. 75/146 since we started tracking the newsletter on April 16th. We drop to a 51% hit rate, just barely still in the green. Let’s start climbing.
