Conference Finals in the NBA, NHL

In the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder play game one tonight in the Western Conference Finals, and the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks play game one tomorrow in the Eastern Conference Finals.

In the NHL, the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes play game one tonight in the Eastern Conference Finals, and the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars play in the Western Conference Finals starting tomorrow night.

Over the next 48 hours, four of the final eight teams will look to take a 1-0 lead in their Conference Championships. Here’s some player prop data that could give you an edge in these opening matchups.

Reid has scored 22+ points in 3 of his 4 games against OKC this season, averaging 22.5/11.0/3.2 in those four games.

Reid H2H against OKC

But Reid failed to hit this mark in his last three playoff games, scoring 9, 5, and 8 points. In those games, he averaged 23.3 minutes and 7.3 points. In the other 7 games, he averaged 26.3 minutes and averaged 12.6 points.

And lastly, in the 4 games against OKC this season, Reid averaged 37 minutes. With all of that information, how many minutes do we need to see from Reid for the 10.5 points to be in play? When he plays 23 or fewer, he seems to struggle against this line, averaging just 8.1 points. When he plays 24 to 30 minutes? 13.8 points. And when he plays 31+ minutes? 19.6 points. Let’s hope we see somewhere between 22 and 28 minutes for Reid in game one.

Although he had a slower series against Winnipeg, with just one point and zero goals in 6 games, Roberston was just returning from injury. In those games, he averaged just under 15 minutes and played 17 or more once. In the regular season, he averaged nearly 18 minutes a game. This season, when he played 17 minutes or more, he had a point in 32 of 54 games (59% hit rate)
