NBA & NHL Playoff Battles: Games That Matter

Games That Matter in the NBA & NHL
There are 4 games apiece in the NBA and NHL tonight with heavy playoff implications on the line. In the NBA, those games are…
Minnesota at Milwaukee
Memphis at Charlotte
Golden State at Phoenix
San Antonio at the LA Clippers
Before we get into the player props, here is what is on the line for each team:
Minnesota, Memphis, Golden State, and the LA Clippers all have the same record: 46-32. They’re ranked 5th to 8th, and finishing as high as 5th can mean you avoid OKC in the first round, and finishing as low as 8th could mean you have to play two play-in games.
Milwaukee is trying to hold off Detroit and keep the 5th seed, they come into tonight just one game ahead of Detroit.
Charlotte and San Antonio are playing for nothing.
Phoenix is three games back of the final play-in spot, but their chances are slim with Dallas three games up.
And in the NHL, those games are…
Detroit at Montreal
Toronto at Florida
Vancouver at Dallas
Utah at Seattle
Here is what is on the line for each team:
Detroit is 6 points back of Montreal for the final playoff spot, so this game is a monster.
Florida is 6 points back of Toronto for the division lead, and with the Leafs playing Tampa tomorrow (who is two points back), this game is also a monster. The division could be decided in the next 48 hours.
Vancouver is on life support, 8 points back of the final playoff spot with 5 games to go. They’re not going to get in, but they aren’t dead yet. Dallas is chasing Winnipeg for the division lead, 5 points back heading into tonight.
If the Canucks are on live support, we’re looking for a pulse for Utah. They need to win out and get a lot of help, but still - they aren’t officially dead yet. Seattle, on the other hand, is dead in the water.
We dove into Props.Cash to find one player prop trend for each of these games.
NBA
MIN at MIL: Anthony Edwards, 9.5 Rebounds and Assists
The Milwaukee Bucks give up the most rebounds per game to shooting guards (6.9 per game), and the second most rebounds and assists per game to shooting guards. Edwards has taken advantage of this matchup in the past.

Edwards, head-to-head against Milwaukee
Edwards had 11 rebounds and assists earlier this season against Milwaukee, and has gone over this number in 4 straight games against the Bucks. He also has solid numbers on the road, averaging 10.6 rebounds and assists per game this season away from Minnesota, going over this line 55% of the time.

MEM at CHA: Scotty Pippen Jr, 10.5 Points
In his last 5 games, Pippen Jr has averaged 12.6 points per game, nearly 3 points per game more than his season average.

Scotty Pippen Jr’s last 5 games
His over/under will come down to how many minutes he’ll play. He’s averaged 23 minutes per game over his last 5, and in all 5 games Ja Morant played. Ja is expected to line up against tonight, so we can expect Pippen to come in around that number. And the Grizzlies are favoured by 14 points, so we can expect Pippen to come in anywhere between 20 to 26 minutes tonight. When he plays 20 to 26 minutes, with Morant in the lineup, Pippen is averaging 11 points per game.

It’s also worth noting that Charlotte allows 24.9 points to point guards per game.
GSW at PHX: Devin Booker, 29.5 Points
Without Kevin Durant, and with Bradley Beal seemingly forgetting how to ball, Devin Booker has put this team on his back in their quest for the play-in. In his last three games, Booker has averaged 38 points per game and gone over this line in three straight games.

He’s also got great data against Golden State, going over this in 3 of his last 4 games against the Warriors.

SAS at LAC: Kawhi Leonard, 5.5 Rebounds
In his last 10 games, Kawhi is averaging 7.2 rebounds per game, eclipsing this 5.5 rebound line in 9 of those 10 games.

Kawhi Leonard’s last 10 games
And this is a great matchup for Kawhi, he’s facing a Spurs squad that allows the second most rebounds per game to small forwards (8.3 per game). He took advantage of this matchup earlier this season, racking up 6 boards in just 28.7 minutes.
NHL
DET at MTL: Cole Caufield, 2.5 Shots On Goal
Take good players to do good things in big games! Caufield has averaged 3.2 shots on goal per game in his last 5, going over this line in 4 of those 5 games. And his head-to-head history with Detroit is outstanding, going over this in 8 of his last 10 against the Red Wings and averaging 3 shots per game against them this season.

TOR at FLA: Mitch Marner, 0.5 Points
We repeat: good players, to do good things, in big games. Marner leads the Leafs in points, and he’s in the midst of a seven-game point streak, with 11 points in that span. He’s also played well against Florida this season, with three points in three games against them so far.

VAN at DAL: Roope Hintz, Anytime Goal
Hintz is somewhat hot right now, with 3 goals in his last 6 games. He doesn’t have a goal in back-to-back games, but it this is a matchup he’s used to getting back on the goal wagon before. Dating back to last season, Hintz has a goal in three straight games against Vancouver, with two this season back in January.

UTA at SEA: Nick Schmaltz, 1.5 Shots on Goal
Schmaltz is a WAGON at home this season, going over this 1.5 shots on goal line in 79% of his home games, averaging 2.6 shots on goal.

He also had 4 shots on goal against Seattle in Seattle earlier this season, and has gone over this line in 4 straight games overall.
