RB’s vs the Raiders

Five number-one running backs in a row have scored rushing touchdowns against the Las Vegas Raiders. They’re allowing 1.11 rushing touchdowns per game, 23rd in the NFL.

De’Vone Achane is leading Dolphins running backs with 5 touchdowns this year. Can he make it 6 in a matchup that leans his way? 3 of his 5 touchdowns have been receiving touchdowns, and that’s an area that the Raiders have given up a lot to running backs, too. In the current 5 game stretch of number one running backs scoring on the Raiders, this is how those touchdowns have been scored.

  • Week 5 at Broncos: Jaleel McLaughlin, receiving touchdown

  • Week 6 vs Steelers: Najee Harris, rushing touchdown

  • Week 7 at Rams: Kyren Williams, two rushing touchdown

  • Week 8 vs Chiefs: Kareem Hunt, rushing touchdown

  • Week 9 at Cincinnati: Chase Brown, receiving touchdown

Achane could find the end zone either on the ground or through the air in week 11.

1 PM: Rams vs Patriots

Here’s a list of every starting running back the New England Patriots have faced, by week, if they scored a touchdown or not, and how they scored it.

After letting running backs score at will through the first 7 weeks, it’s been 3 straight games without a running back touchdown against the Patriots. Can Kyren Williams break that streak?

Williams touchdowns this season

Williams himself doesn’t have a touchdown in back-to-back weeks, and part of that has been the lack of red zone attempts for Williams. He averaged 4.85 red zone touches per game over the first 7 weeks, and he’s had 5 total red zone touches in the last two games.

4 PM: Seahawks vs 49ers

For the Seahawks and 49ers game, we googled American playwright Eugene O’Neil’s famous quote about history.

There is no present or future-only the past, happening over and over again-now.

Eugene O’Neil

Full disclosure, we googled famous quotes about history repeating itself to find that. And it’s because of Deebo Samuel’s history against the Seattle Seahawks.

Deebo’s yards against the Seahawks

As you can see, Deebo loves playing the Seahawks. Over his last 6 games against the 49ers, Deebo has averaged 110.5 yards per game. More importantly, he has 7 touchdowns in 6 games, with 2 multi-touchdown games. And in the 3 games he’s played with McCaffrey in the lineup against the Seahawks, he’s scored, too.

Deebo’s touchdown history against the Seahawks

Can he continue that? The Seahawks defense is one big liability in just about every aspect. They rank bottom ten in most defensive categories and have allowed 25 or more points in 4 of their last 5 games.

Sunday Night Football: Bengals vs Chargers

The Bengals give up a ton to wide receivers, bottom 10 in receptions, receiving yards, and bottom 5 in yards per reception. Receiving touchdowns? They’re ranked 18th, allowing 0.9 receiving touchdowns.

So who is worth targeting on the Chargers? Well, there is no clear number one for the chargers receiving core. Rookie Ladd McConkey and second-year pro-Quentin Johnson are fighting for the number one spot, and this is how they stack up against each other.

Although McConkey cleans Johnston up across the board, this newsletter is focused on touchdowns, and Johnston has the edge.

Joe Mixon? On paper, Joe Mixon looks pretty good here. He has a touchdown in every game he’s played except one and has two multi-touchdown games. The former Bengal has 7 rushing touchdowns this season, tied 4th most in the NFL.

Joe Mixon’s 2024 touchdowns

The Cowboys give up the most rushing touchdowns per game (1.11), the 4th most rush attempts, and the 7th most rushing yards per game. Alvin Kamara, Derrick Henry, and David Montgomery all have multi-touchdown games against them this season, but they were able to keep Saquon Barkley out of the end zone last week…just for Jalen Hurts to score two touchdowns against them.
