MLB Strikeout Props

Byran Woo and Joe Ryan start for their respective clubs today, and they both walk into decent matchups where they should be able to position themselves to go over their strikeout prop. Check out the data below!

Bryan Woo, 6.5 Strikeouts

Woo doesn’t have crazy numbers this season, averaging 5.6 strikeouts per game with a 45% hit rate. But his recent play has been a bit better, averaging 8.3 strikeouts with a 71% hit rate over his last 7 starts.

The recent data is strong, and so is his matchup. The Orioles rank 21st in strikeouts allowed to opposing righties. The head-to-head data is the real sticking point, though. The Orioles' projected lineup has 58 career plate appearances against Woo, and collectively they’ve swung their way to a 31.4% strikeout rate, with four batters at 28.6% or higher.

Woo has also been lights out at home recently, with 9, 8, and 9 strikeouts in his last three home starts, and 8 or more strikeouts in 4 of 6 starts in Seattle this season.

Joe Ryan, 6.5 Strikeouts

After failing to crack the 8-strikeout plateau in his first 10 starts of the season, Joe Ryan has averaged 8.0 strikeouts over his last 5 starts, hitting 9 strikeouts three times.

On paper, he doesn’t get the best matchup in the world, with the Rangers ranked 14th in strikeouts allowed to opposing righties. But historically, that hasn’t mattered. The projected lineup for Texas has 21 plate appearances against Ryan, and a collective strikeout rate of 61.9%!!

Keep an eye on Ryan today.
