NBA
Hot Players, Hot Trends
Two players jump off the app for their recent play: Cooper Flagg (points) and LaMelo Ball (assists).
DAL @ LAC, 10:30 PM: Cooper Flagg, Points
Flagg is playing the LA Clippers, who rank 13th in points allowed to opposing point guards, and whom Flagg dropped 35 against back in November. And in his last two games, he’s dropped 51 & 45 points.

What does the 19-year-old have in store for us tonight?
CHA @ BOS, 8:00 PM: LaMelo Ball, Assists
Ball has been dishing like crazy lately, as you can see in the image below. He has 8 or more assists in 5 of his last 6, 8 or more assists in 6 of his last 8, and 9 or more assists in 3 of his last 4. He does have a tougher matchup tonight, with Boston ranked 13th in assists allowed to opposing PG’s, with LaMelo racking up just 7 assists in two games against Boston this season.

With a win tonight and a Toronto Raptors’ loss, Charlotte can move out of the play-in and into 6th in the East. Can LaMelo get 7 assists on his way there?
DvP Thoughts…
When you sort by DvP (defense vs position) on the Props.Cash app, you can find some interesting data. We’ll do that for the remaining 8 games we promised:
7:00 PM, MIN @ IND: Julius Randle, 6.5 Rebounds
The Pacers rank dead last in rebounds allowed to power forwards, with 62% of opposing power forwards clearing their rebound line against the Pacers over their last 10 games. And this season, Randle has 9 games against teams that rank in the bottom 5 of rebounding vs opposing PFs.

As you can see, in those 9 games, he’s averaging 7.4 rebounds with a 67% hit rate.
7:00 PM, CHI @ WAS: Tristan Vukcevic, 11.5 Points
Vukcevic has 13 or more points in 4 of his last 6 games, and now he gets to face a Wizards team that allows the most points in the league to opposing centers. He’s also averaging 17.6 minutes per game over his last 10, compared to 13.7 minutes this season, playing 15 or more minutes in all but one of those games. When we combine those two stats….
Vukcevic is averaging 11.0 points with a 63% hit rate this season when playing teams that rank in the bottom 10 in opposing center defense, while playing 15 or more minutes.

If he gets the minutes, he should be able to take advantage of the best possible matchup in the NBA.
7:30 PM, MIL @ BKN: Nolan Traore, 1.5 3PTM
This is a volume play. The Bucks are the worst team in the NBA at defending the three, and Nolan Trarore’s volume has been insane lately.
He’s only averaging 3.4 3PTAs this season, but over his last three games, he has 6 or more attempts three times, and 9 or more attempts twice. He’s only attempted 6 or more attempts 7 times this season, and 5 of those games have come since March 1st.

Volune + matchup look good here.
7:30 PM, MIA @ TOR: Brandon Ingram, 5.5 Rebounds
Ingram on the road: averaging 4.9 rebounds per game, clearing this line in 43% of his games.
Ingram at home: averaging 6.2 rebounds per game, clearing this line in 74% of his games.
The home/away splits are on our side, and so is the matchup. The Heat rank 27th in rebounds allowed to opposing shooting guards, and this will mark the 10th game for Ingram this season against teams that rank in the bottom 5 of rebounding vs opposing shooting guards. In those other 9 games, he’s averaging 5.7 rebounds with a 67% hit rate.

Two of those games are against Miami, where he had 5 and 6 rebounds. In those two games, he had 7 and 13 rebound chances, and this season, when Ingram has 7 or more rebound chances, he’s averaging 6.7 rebounds at home with a 82% hit rate.
8:00 PM, UTA @ NOP: Derrick Queen, UNDER 3.5 Assists
Queen has a good matchup, but his recent play has not been there. In his L10, he’s averaging 2.2 assists with a 20% hit rate, and 2.5 assists over his L20 with a 25% hit rate. But more importantly, his play without Trey Murphy:

Yikes.
10:00 PM, SAC @ GSW: Steph Curry, 23.5 Points
Steph came back with a classic Steph game on Sunday: 29 points, 5 threes on 10 attempts, and 21 total field goal attempts. And now for game two, he’s facing the lowly Sacramento Kings, who rank. dead last in points allowed to opposing point guards. This season, when he faces teams that rank in the bottom 5 in points allowed to opposing PG’s, Chef Curry cooks.

What does he have in store for the encore?
10:30 PM, OKC @ LAL: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, 5.5 Assists
This is a head-to-head trend. In his last 9 games against the Lakers, he’s moved the ball with ease, averaging 7.1 assists with an 89% hit rate. This season, in two games, he has 16 total assists with 9 & 7, and a 100% hit rate.

It’s no surprise that he’s moved the ball well against the Lakers, who rank 26th in assists allowed to opposing point guards.
10:30 PM, HOU @ PHX: Devin Booker, UNDER 35.5 PRA
Historically, Booker has struggled against Houston. Across their last 8 games H2H, he’s averaging 31.9 PRA, going over this line just once. Why? Because the Rockets are the top PRA defense team against opposing shooting guards.

We’re banking on a bad game for a hot player: in his L5, Booker is averaging 38.8 PRA with an 80% hit rate. There is some good news; he’s averaging 33.6 PRA in his L10 home games, with just a 30% hit rate.
And that’s 10 games in the NBA, as promised.

NHL
Head Over To The Blog!
Below, we have four NHL trends in the newsletter, but our daily blog is carrying most of the weight for the NHL. Six trends are housed there, and you can check them out by clicking anywhere in this sentence. The six games highlighted in the blog are:
7:00 PM, CBJ @ DET
7:00 PM, TB @ OTT
7:00 PM, FLA @ MTL
7:00 PM, PHI @ NJ
10:00 PM, VGK @ VAN
10:00 PM, NSH @ ANA
But we still have more down below…
The Other Four Games
7:00 PM, BOS @ CAR: David Pastrnak, 2.5 Shots On Goal
Pastrnak EATS on the road in Carolina.

Although it’s a tough matchup, with the Hurricanes allowing the least amount of shots on goal in the NHL this season, his history in Carolina is attractive enough. And Pasta has good numbers vs good team this season: when playing teams that rank in the top 5 of shots on goal allowed, Pasta has 3+ shots on goal in 67% of the 12 games that qualify.
8:00 PM, SEA @ MIN: Ryan Hartman, 0.5 Points
Can Hartman stay hot? He has 8 points in his last 4 games, one point in six straight games, and 13 points in his L10 games.

This should be a good game, with Seattle in the midst of a tense playoff battle. And Hartman has solid H2H data against the Kraken, too: a point in 7 of his last 8 against them, with a point in 4 straight home games against the Kraken.
8:00 PM, CGY @ DAL: Jason Robertson, 0.5 Goals
Robertson hasn’t scored in four straight games, his second-longest drought of the season and longest since October. If there’s ever a spot for him to break the drought, it’s against the Flames. In his last 11 games against Calgary, he has a goal in 64% of his games, with 9 goals total. Even better, he has a goal in four straight home games against the Flames.

Robertson, who averaged 3.6 shots on goal per game, has 4 or more shots on goal in 4 of his last 5, too. He’s searching for it, and let’s hope tonight he finds it.
9:30 PM, EDM @ UTA: Connor McDavid, 0.5 Goals
McDavid, who hasn’t scored in back-to-back games even though he’s racked up 13 (!!!) shots on goal, gets one of his favourite matchups tonight. He has 5 goals in his last 3 games against Utah, and 3 goals in Utah in his last 2 games vs the Mammoth on the road.

In those two most recent games that he didn’t score, he had 8 shot attempts both times. For what it’s worth: in games this season with 7 or more shot attempts, he has a goal 52% of the time, and in games with 7 or more on the road, he has a goal 58% of the time…and with 8 or more on the road, 63% of the time he’s found the back of the net.
