Props.cash newsletter: How absence of players impacts props

It's easy to see how others perform when their teammates are out of the lineup.

Use our “Without Player” filter to find serious NBA prop value

If you bet NBA player props, it’s very important you keep a close eye on the injury report and starting lineup news. It’s amazing how much the presence or absence of a player can impact the players around them.

It’s probably more paramount in the NBA than any other sport. For the most part, only 8-10 players are hitting the floor for a given night. If a certain player is not on the court, that opens up a lot of opportunity and volume for someone else to take advantage of.

Tonight’s Golden State team is a perfect example of how you can use props.cash to easily track the impact. Draymond Green is suspended and Steph Curry is out with a knee injury.

Insert Klay Thompson.

We can’t properly dig into and appreciate Klay’s points until we see his 2023 season. Throw out that Timberwolves game when Thompson was ejected, and yet you see a guy who has gone under 20 points in every single game this season.

If you didn’t know Curry was out, you’d be quite confused with this line.

We have an injuries table for every game and every team to keep you apprised of this type of news. One look at Thompson’s performance without Curry makes the Warriors star guard look set for a big game this evening.

Over the past 20 games Curry has missed, Thompson averages 24.9 points per game, going over tonight’s line 13 times. Throw out his short stint vs. Minnesota, and that average jumps to 26.2 points per game. For good measure, this includes a matchup with Oklahoma City, tonight’s opponent, a game in which Thompson dropped 42.

What about the games where Thompson is on the court without both Curry and Green?

It’s a small sample size, but the past two such games saw Thompson finish with 42 and 32 points. It sure seems like he may have himself a game tonight.

This feature should be put to use every night if you’re an NBA prop bettor. Let this writer humbly pat himself on the back for this look he found yesterday chatting some Celtics basketball with a buddy.

What did Derrick White do last night against the Sixers with no Jaylen Brown? He finished with 27 points, five assists and three rebounds to fly over this 20.5 PRA line.

Let’s make it a “Games Without a Player” kind of day with the NFL too

Why don’t we just stick here for a moment and continue to highlight this props.cash feature, which is available for every single sport on the dashboard.

Maybe you’ve gotten started on some “TNF” prep, and maybe you’re planning to look this afternoon. ICYMI, Cincinnati WR Tee Higgins is out tonight. Without even looking, you’d likely assume that “okay, this probably means Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd will get more work.”

Wouldn’t it be nice to double-check?

Chase has 100+ yards in two straight games sans Higgins. Interesting, as he’s over his receiving yardage line in four of six games against the Ravens.

Boyd’s receptions line really catches the eye at +110 here, as he has 23 total receptions across the past three games with Higgins sidelined. He’s seen 30 targets in those games, suggesting a far bigger role is on deck for tonight.

Let’s look ahead to a Sunday game for a moment. The big news from yesterday morning out of the NFL was that Cleveland’s quarterback Deshaun Watson is out for the season following shoulder surgery.

It’s easy to quickly look at how various players have performed with and without Watson in the lineup this season. This can help guide your confidence level in them moving forward and in Week 11 against a soft Steelers secondary (sixth-most passing yards allowed per game).

Simply click that ‘With’ or ‘W/O’ filter to quickly track the impact of Watson’s availability for various Browns props.

With Watson at QB this year, Elijah Moore has averaged 40.8 receiving yards per game and 6.8 targets/game, flying over this 22.5 line set for Sunday.

Without Watson, not so good.

The yardage outputs have been far lower, and he’s seen 1.5 less targets/game when Watson is not his quarterback.

If you’re not putting this filter to use, get to it!
