Take Me Out To The Ball Game…
We aren’t going to offer up any MLB trends in this newsletter, we’ll hit you with those on Thursday. But I do want to highlight our newest features, mainly the home run spray charts.
Home Run Spray Charts
If you like a player matchup on any given day and want to explore if a home run bet makes sense, we’ve added this new feature so you’ll have more data to help you make a smarter decision. Like the matchup? Well, now you can see if the ballpark plays in their favor, too.
For this example, we’re using Los Angeles Dodgers star designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. As you can see, Ohtani hits most of his home runs off of right-handed pitchers to right and center field, and in Dodgers Stadium on Thursday, the weather conditions play against Ohtani.
And if you go to the new and improved matchup page, you’ll see that Miles Mikolas’s earned run average against left-handed batters in 2023 was 5.062, so this matchup plays well for Ohtani.
These are just two of the new and improved features on our new MLB platform. Check it out on the app and we’ll have it out on the website before the season starts.
You Just Gotta Scoring Man…
Auston Matthews has 58 goals, and Zach Hyman and Sam Reinhart are at 50. The race for the Rocket Richard is very likely over, Matthews has it all but locked down, but all three of these guys are having seasons to remember.
Auston Matthews 0.5 Goals
Including a hat trick in 2022, Auston Matthews has 6 goals in his last 6 games against the New Jersey Devils. He needs 12 goals to hit 70, but first, he needs 2 goals to hit 60, so could tonight be the night? Matthews has 16 multi-goal games and 11 of those have come on one day’s rest.
Sam Reinhart 0.5 Goals
In a battle for the top of the Atlantic division, Sam Reinhart is going to want to make an impact, but will he? His numbers against Boston suggest that he may. He has 9 goals in his last 16 games against Boston, good for a 56% clip.
Zach Hyman 0.5 Goals
An anytime goal trend that clips at 61% is something that pops off the screen. Hyman on one day rest this year has a goal in 23 of 38 games this season, and he’s riding high with 4 goals in his last 5 games.
NBA Trends This Week
There are four NBA games tonight, so here’s one NBA trend from each game tonight.
Stephen Curry 8.5 Reb + Ast Steph Curry hasn’t missed this in three straight games against the Heat dating back to 2022, hitting it this season as well in December against the Heat. For the season he’s been over this line in 59% of his games and 6 of his last 10. | D'Angelo Russell Over 7.5 Assists LeBron James has officially been declared out tonight and D’Angelo Russell hasn’t missed this line in 9 games without LBJ this season. That included a 9-assist showing against the Bucks on March 8th without LeBron. |
Chet Holmgren 15.5 Points Chet has been over this line in 3 of his last 5 games, 59% of his games this season and most importantly, he’s 2 for 2 in his career against the Pelicans. He cleared it by 3 points in November and 4 points in January. | De’Aaron Fox 2.5 Turnovers De’Aaron Fox has played 6 games at home this season in back-to-backs and he’s committed at least 3 turnovers in 4 of those games. In back-to-backs overall, he’s been over this line in 58% of his games. |
