One thought for Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football and the NBA
Three Quick Thoughts From Props.Cash
Happy Sunday afternoon! We thought we’d hop into your inbox for the second last time this year with some last-minute thoughts for three events over the next 36 hours:
Sunday Night Football: Falcons at Commanders
Monday Night Football: Lions at 49ers
7 PM Sunday: Grizzlies at Thunder
SNF: Run the Ball on Washington
The Washington Commanders are an elite offense, led by Jayden Daniels and Terry Maclaurin. But when the dust settles on this season, one has to think GM Adam Peters will look to improve the rush defense.
Commanders defensive stats
Their defense isn’t awful—they give up the 8th-most yards on the ground—but it’s not good either. Unfortunately for the Commanders, they get the Atlanta Falcons' new-look offense on SNF, with Michael Penix Jr. under center and Bijan Robinson beside him.
Robinson’s last 5 games
Bijan has 22 or more rushing attempts in 4 straight games, and 92 or more yards in 4 straight. Bonus: he’s averaged 111 yards this season on the road in primetime.
Memphis at OKC: Bane?
Are any readers out there also Dark Knight fans?
“Ah you think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!”
Maybe Desmond Bane just needed to find his version of darkness? He has found his stride over his last 5 games, averaging 19.2 points.
But it’s not his PPG that jumps out. He’s averaged 46% from the field this season, and over his last 5 games that has jumped to 56%! Can he keep it up tonight against an OKC team that gives up 20.79 points per game to shooting guards, 8th best in the NBA? Possibly, considering he has averaged 21.3 points per game in his last 4 matchups vs the Thunder when playing 20 or more minutes.
Bane’s H2H stats vs OKC
MNF: Jahmyr Gibbs vs the 49ers?
Here’s a quick checklist for you:
No David Montgomery.
A 49ers team that gives up quite a bit to running backs
Fighting for the #1 spot in the NFC.
Gibbs first game without Monty was last week.
This is a big game for the Lions, and they’re going to need their (newly solo) running back 1 to step up. He had 109 yards on 23 carries and 45 yards on 5 targets and 4 receptions. This 49ers team gives up 129.25 rush and receiving yards per game to running backs, and for those wondering, Gibbs's line is at 125.5 for Monday night.
