Now, let’s get into it.

Edge: 27.6 PRA

Grimes gets an Edge difference of 5.1 PRA tonight, coming off a strong showing of 41 PRA on Sunday.

He’s averaging 28 PRA per game this season, clearing this 22.5 line in 50% of his games, with at least 20+ in all 6 games. The three misses, as you can see, were 20, 21, & 22 PRA. Grimes is also hitting at a 33% clip on the road, averaging 31.3.

Grimes’ data this season

Although the Bulls have shown some defensive prowess so far this season, they just gave up quite a bit to several Knicks shooting guards last night.

NBA Edge Trend #2: Ryan Dunn, 16.5 PRA

Edge: 21.4 PRA

Dunn gets an Edge difference of 4.9 PRA tonight, coming off three straight overs.

Dunn is averaging a tidy 18.1 PRA this season, clearing this line in 71% of his games. In his last three games, he’s averaging 22 PRA in those three games.

Dunn’s PRA data this season

The last three power forwards to face the Warriors have cleared this with ease, and two of them were on the same team. If we look even further into the Warriors’ most recent games, outside of their matchup with the Clippers, power forwards have found real success against them in the early going of this season.

Kuzma gets an Edge difference of 4.8 PRA tonight, coming off three straight overs.

In his three straight overs, Kuzma has 20 or more PRA each time, averaging 22 PRA. This season, he’s cleared this line in 67% of his games, averaging 17.8 PRA, and in 50% of his away games, averaging 15.5 PRA.

Kuzma’s PRA data this season

He gets a solid matchup against the Raptors, who rank 22nd in PRA versus small forwards, and who just gave up 34 & 37 PRA to De’Andre Hunter & Kevin Durant in two of their last three games.

Small forward data against the Raptors

NBA Edge Trend #4: Kawhi Leonard, 29.5 PRA

Edge: 32.9 PRA

Leonard gets an Edge difference of 3.4 PRA tonight, with 4 over in his last 5 games.

Leonard has cleared this line in 67% of his games this season, averaging 33.5 PRA. If you eliminate the first game of the season, where he only had 16 PRA, his average jumps to 37 PRA. He’s also 4-0 at home, averaging 40.0 PRA.

Kawhi Leonard’s PRA data this season

Admittedly, he gets a tough matchup - OKC ranks 3rd in PRA against small forwards, but in two of their last three games, they have let a small forward eclipse 26 or more PRA.

Small forwards against the Thunder, L3 games

Either way, he’ll be in tough, but his data at home is encouraging enough.

NBA Edge Trend #5: Paolo Banchero, 32.5 Pts + Reb

Edge: 3.4 PRA

Banchero gets an Edge difference of 3.4 PRA tonight, with 4 over in his last 5 games.

Banchero is averaging 32.6 PRA this season, clearing this line in 71% of his games. Similar to Leonard, Banchero has one bad game that stands out. In the second game of his season, he had just 17 PRA, and if we eliminate that outlier, his average jumps to 35.16 PRA.

Banchero’s PRA data this season

Banchero gets the Atlanta Hawks tonight, who rank 15th in PRA to power forwards this season. Last season in Atlanta, he dropped 46 PRA.

NHL

NHL Edge Trend #1: Karel Vejmelka, 23.5 Saves

Edge: 31.0 Saves

Vejmelka gets an Edge difference of 7.5 saves tonight.

Vejmelka is averaging 22.6 saves per game this season, clearing this line in 33% of his games. Admittedly, the first look at the data for Vejmelka isn’t great. But opposing goalies’ data against Buffalo, Vejmelka’s opponent tonight, is what jumps off the page.

Vejmelka’s saves data this season

This season, 8 of the 13 goalies to play Buffalo have gone over this number, too.

NHL Edge Trend #2: Cutter Gauthier, 2.5 Shots on Goal

Edge: 4.0 Shots on Goal

Gauthier gets an Edge difference of 1.5 shots on goal tonight.

Gauthier is averaging 4.7 shots on goal this season, clearing this line in 73% of his games so far, and in 50% of his home games, averaging 3.8 shots on goal in Anaheim.

Gauthier’s shots on goal data this season

No team allows fewer shots on goal in the NHL, so Gauthier will be in tough, but they have allowed some left-wingers to clear this line in recent games, most importantly Gauthier himself, who racked up 7 shots on goal against Florida on the 28th.

Edge: 3.0 Shots on Goal

Schaefer gets an Edge difference of 1.5 shots on goal tonight.

Schaefer’s shots on goal data this season is exceptional - he’s averaging 3.0 shots on goal, clearing this line in 75% of his games this season, and in 5 straight coming into this one.

Schaefer’s shots on goal data this season

The Boston Bruins rank 14th in shots on goal allowed to defencemen and 25th in shots on goal allowed overall.

NHL Edge Trend #5: Justus Annunen, 23.5 Saves

Edge: 29.0 Saves

Annunen gets an Edge difference of 5.5 saves tonight.

This is just Annunen’s third start of the season. In both games, he had enough shots against to clear this line, but in his October 14th start, the Maple Leafs were able to put a 5-spot up against him, leading to just 21 saves. He held Dallas to 3 goals and registered 25 saves on October 26th.

Justus Annunen’s saves data this season

More importantly, 6 of the last 7 goalies to face Minnesota have cleared this number, with Thatcher Demko being the outlier at 22 saves.
