Using The New DvP Filters
To Find An Edge In The NBA
Early last week, Props.Cash released updates to our filtering for the NBA. One of the biggest things we heard from the community was being able to view how players played against weak or strong opponents, and being able to customize those filters to whatever range they wanted to see.
Well, now you can.
Check out the tutorial below; it covers the new filters thoroughly.
We’re going to use those new filters in today’s newsletter to find an Edge in tonight’s 7-game NBA slate. You’ll also find our usual NHL cheat sheets from WallaBets, below.
Now, let’s get into it.
NBA DvP Filter Finds
Donte DiVincenzo, 13.5 Points, EDGE: 14.0
DiVincenzo is only averaging 13.2 points per game this season, clearing this line in 49% of his appearances. But one of the places where he shone brightest this season is against weak opponents. DiVencenzo has 7 games this season against teams that are in the bottom 5 of defense against point guards, specifically in the bottom 5 of points allowed to opposing point guards.
And in those 7 games, he is averaging 15.0 points per game with a 71% hit rate.

DiVincenzo versus the bottom 5 defensive teams versus point guards
In that first game, on November 7th, he only played 20 minutes. In the other six games, he played 29 or more minutes. That first game is a bit of an outlier considering he’s averaging 31.8 minutes per game this season. Without that game, he’s averaging 17 points per game against the bottom 5 teams, with an 83% hit rate.
Even better news for Donte, he’s facing the worst team in defense against point guards, the Utah Jazz.

We think it’s important to highlight recent overall play, too:
Over in 2/L5, averaging 12.8 PPG
Over in 3/L10, averaging 12.0 PPG
Over in 1/L5 on the road, averaging 10.0 PPG
Over in 2/L10 on the road, averaging 10.6 PPG

Ivica Zubac, 16.5 Points, EDGE: 16.3
Zubac, like Divincenzo, is averaging well below this line at just 14.8 points per game, with a hit rate against this line of only 33%. And also just like Donte, Ivica’s shining light has been against bad defensive teams. In the four games versus teams that allow the most points to opposing centers, Zubas is averaging a staggering 19.8 points per game with a 75% hit rate.

Zubac versus bottom 5 defensive teams
He’s playing the Bulls tonight, who rank 27th in points defense against opposing centers.

And against teams that are bottom 5 in defending Zubac’s top play type, the post-up, he’s averaging 18.5 points per game with a 50% hit rate. On the road against those teams, his average and hit rate are even better - 21.7 PPG, 67% hit rate.

We think it’s important to highlight recent overall play, too:
Over in 1/L5, averaging 12.2 PPG
Over in 2/L10, averaging 11.3 PPG
Over in 4/L5 on the road, averaging 14.8 PPG
Over in 3/L10 on the road, averaging 15.7 PPG
Devin Booker, 24.5 Points, EDGE: 24.8
Booker has stronger numbers than the other two, averaging 25.3 points per game this season with a 49% hit rate. And just like Donte and Ivica, his numbers improve against those bottom-5 defensive teams. He’s played 9 games against bottom-5 defensive teams, and in those games, he’s averaging 26.2 points per game with a 56% hit rate.

Booker versus teams that rank bottom 5 in defense vs shooting guards
The Suns play Philly tonight, and the spread is -1.5 tonight, so a blowout seems unlikely. And two of the games in the chart above were blowouts where he played under 27 minutes, even though he’s averaging 34 minutes this season. If we eliminate those two games by only looking at the games playing 30 or more minutes, his average versus bottom 5 teams jumps to 28.6 points per game with a 71% hit rate.

Booker versus teams that rank bottom 5 in defense vs shooting guards playing 30+ minutes
The 76ers rank 26th in points allowed to shooting guards.
Lastly, we think it’s important to highlight recent overall play, too:
Over in 2/L5, averaging 24.6 PPG
Over in 5/L10, averaging 25.2 PPG
Over in 2/L5 on the road, averaging 23.0 PPG
Over in 5/L10 on the road, averaging 25.7 PPG
