Week 15 In The NFL

We’re into the final four weeks of the NFL season, and that means no more bye weeks. We’ll be treated to 16 games every week moving forward, and with Thursday Night Football behind us, we have 15 games to look forward to over the next 2 days. Grab your coffee, a notepad if you need it, and let’s dive into one trend for Every. Single. Game.

1 PM Games

WAS @ NYG: Deebo Samuel, 4.5 Receptions

The trend for this game is Samuel, 4.5 receptions. Below you’ll find his season chart and the hard facts of why this is the trend we’ve chosen to highlight.

Samuel has cleared this line in 58% of his games this season, averaging 5.2 receptions. But there are a couple of key metrics we want to point out:

  • In games with Jayden Daniels, he’s averaging 5.8 receptions & 7.7 targets, with a 67% hit rate. In games without Jayden Daneils, he’s averaging 4.5 receptions on 5.8 targets with a 50% hit rate.

  • In his previous matchup against the Giants this season, he had 7 receptions.

  • The Giants rank 27th in receptions allowed to opposite wide receivers, with 64% clearing their reception line against New York in their last 10 games.

  • On the road this season, he’s averaging 5.8 receptions on 7.5 targets with a 67% hit rate, compared to 4.5/6.0/50% at home.

LV @ PHI: Saquon Barkley, 80.5 Rush Yards

The trend for this game is Barkey, 80.5 rushing yards. Below you’ll find his season chart and the hard facts of why this is the trend we’ve chosen to highlight.

Barkley has only cleared this line in 31% of his games this season, averaging 66.3 yards. But last week, he finally figured it out, and we’re banking on him building off of that in a decent matchup.

  • Barkley has 80+ yards in 2 of his last 3 home games, and even with games on 30 and 46 yards at home, he’s still averaging 70.8 in Philly this season.

  • The Raiders rank 17th in rushing yards allowed to opposing running backs and an even worse 22nd in rushing yards allowed on the road.

  • 56% of opposing running backs have cleared their lines against the Raiders in their last 10 games

  • Recent RBs and their yards against LV: RJ Harvey (75), Kimani Vidal (126), Javonte Williams (93), J.K. Dobbins (77), & Travis Etienne (84).

BAL @ CIN: Ja’Marr Chase & Derrick Henry, Anytime TD?

The primary focus here is on head-to-head data. Henry first:

Some other quick facts for Henry:

  • The Bengals rank 30th in touchdowns allowed to opposing running backs.

  • Henry has 4 TDs in his last 4 games overall.

And now, Ja’Marr:

Yes, they held him out of the endzone two weeks ago, but the Bengals still had three passing touchdowns that game. And the 6 touchdowns in three games before that jump off the chart. For the “he’s due” crowd, he hasn’t scored in 5 weeks, even though he has 2 or more redzone targets in 4 of those 5 games. The Ravens also rank 23rd in touchdowns allowed to opposing wide receivers.

ARI @ HOU: Will Anderson Jr, 0.5 Sacks

The trend for this game is Anderson Jr, 0.5 sacks. Below you’ll find his season chart and the hard facts of why this is the trend we’ve chosen to highlight.

The likely runner-up for defensive player of the year (Myles Garrett is him) has been an absolute menace this season. Now, he doesn’t have a sack in back-to-back games, but there are very few matchups as good as this. Cardinals starting QB Jacoby Brissett has been sacked 11 times in the last 3 weeks! Also:

  • 60% of opposing defensive ends have registered a sack against the Cardinals in their last 10 games

  • Anderson, in just 6 home games, has 6.5 sacks this season, with at least one sack in 5 of 6.

BUF @ NE: MailMan - Stefon Diggs

NYJ @ JAC: Breece Hall, Under 59.5 Rushing Yards

We don’t even need Hall’s full-season chart here; the main focus is on the matchup. Before we get to that, here’s the data on Hall you do need to know:

  • Under in 3 of his last 4 games. Only hitting this line in 46% of his games this season.

  • Under in 3 of 5 road games, averaging 67.4 on the road. But one of those games was against the worst rushing defense in the NFL, Cincinnati, where he had 133 yards. If we take away that game, he’s under in 3 of 4, averaging 51.0 yards.

  • He’s averaging 15.5 rush attempts this season. In games with 15 or fewer, he averages 54.7 yards with a 29% hit rate (7 games total). In games with 14-17, he averages 67.8 yards with a 40% hit rate (5 games). And lastly, in games with 16 or more carries, he averages 82.3 yards, with a 67% hit rate (6 games).

And then there’s the matchup.

The Jags not only limit opposing running backs to the fewest yards in the NFL, but they limit all positions to the fewest rushing yards in the NFL—best overall rush defense in the league. Only 39% of opposing backs have cleared their line against the Jags in their last 10 games.

LAC @ KC: Chris Jones, 0.5 Sacks

There’s some risk here, we’ll admit it. Jones only has 4 sacks all season and isn’t quite the same player he used to be. He’s still great, but he just isn’t in that conversation anymore. But the 31-year-old is still a beast, and he gets a wonderful matchup here. First, the Chargers rank 31st in sacks allowed to opposing defensive tackles.

And they’ve given up a sack to a DT in 5 of their last 6 games.

Can Jones deliver?

GB @ DEN: Jordan Love, 2.5 Rush Attempts

“Love, rushing? Really?”

^ you, to us, reading that. He’s not a dual threat; he doesn’t run a ton, but he does run enough on the road to catch our eye.

Not only is he over in 4 of 6 road games, averaging 3.2 rush attempts, but he’s also rushed the ball 3+ times twice in his last three games, with 9 total rush attempts across those three games. Also, of the 13 QBs to face Denver this season, 7 of them have had at least 3 rush attempts. Even better, 4 of those 7 were when the Broncos were at home. This game is in Denver.

CAR @ NO: Chubba Hubbard, 45.5 Rushing Yards

Rico Dowdle this, Rico Dowdle that. Last week, Hubbard announced that he wasn’t going anywhere with how well he ran the ball against LA. Rico stole his job and kept it (rightfully so) after Hubbard returned from injury, but last week Hubbard ran the ball for 83 yards on 17 carries, and Dowdle mustered 58 yards on 18 carries. He made a statement, and now it’s time to follow it up against the second-worst rushing defense in the NFL.

Can Hubbard replicate his rebound from last week in a marquee matchup?
